Pialist Privacy Policy

This policy explains how inciStudio LLC (“we”, “us”) handles personal data in the Pialist mobile app (“Pialist” or the “App”), a piano repertoire and practice app.

Accounts and sign-in

You sign in with email and password, Google or Apple (iOS). We store your email address, display name and profile photo where provided, and the first and last name you enter when signing up with email.

Data we store

To provide the App and sync it across devices, we store the following, accessible only to your account:

• in Google Cloud Firestore: your pieces (title, composer, era, genre, difficulty, proficiency, status, tags and notes), routines, practice sessions (duration and notes), page annotations you draw, notes the App recognizes from sheet music, and details of your recordings;
• in Firebase Storage: sheet music you import, photograph or scan (PDFs and images), and MIDI recordings you save.

Copies of your files are also cached on your device. Preferences such as theme and language are stored on your device.

Camera, photos, microphone and Bluetooth

• Camera and photo library — used only when you choose to scan or import sheet music.
• Microphone — used for listening features. Audio is processed on your device and is never recorded or uploaded.
• Bluetooth — used to connect a MIDI keyboard. MIDI recordings are uploaded only when you save them.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, practice reminders (such as streaks and weekly summaries) are scheduled on your device.

Analytics and other services

• Firebase Analytics: the Firebase SDK collects basic usage and device information automatically, such as app opens, session length, device model and OS version.
• Google Fonts: the App downloads its typeface from Google, which exposes your IP address to Google.
• Ratings and sharing: the App may show your app store’s rating prompt, and uses your device’s share sheet when you choose to share something.

Pialist has no ads and no in-app purchases. We do not sell your data or use it to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

Why we use your data

• To provide the App, your account, file storage and sync — necessary to perform our agreement with you.
• To send practice reminders and access the camera, microphone or Bluetooth — based on your permission, which you can withdraw in your device settings.
• To understand usage — our legitimate interest in improving the App.

Who we share data with

• Google (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Storage, Analytics, Google Sign-In, Google Fonts); and
• Apple (Sign in with Apple).

Your practice data and files are private to your account. We may disclose data if required by law.

How long we keep data

We keep your account, practice data and files while your account exists. Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in our Firebase project.

Deleting your account and data

In the App, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This deletes your account and your profile. At the moment it does not automatically delete your practice data, sheet music files or recordings. To have everything erased, email info@incistudio.com from the address registered to your account, before or after deleting in the App. We will delete all remaining data within 30 days. Uninstall the App to remove files cached on your device.

Your rights

Depending on the data protection laws where you live (for example the GDPR in the EU and UK), you can ask us to:

• access the personal data we hold about you, or receive a copy of it;
• correct inaccurate data;
• delete your data;
• object to or restrict certain processing; and
• withdraw consent you have given, at any time, without affecting earlier processing.

Email us to make a request. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

International transfers

Our service providers, including Google (Firebase) and, where used, RevenueCat, may process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States. These providers apply their own contractual and technical safeguards for such transfers.

Children

Pialist is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we update the date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we will take reasonable steps to let you know before it applies.
